The Cattaraugus Free Library was recently named a recipient of a $1,000 Walmart Community Grant from Walmart Store #2164, Springville, New York. The library will use the funds to host several free community-based programs. Highlights include a one-hour long animal show by REPCO Wildlife Encounters during the library’s annual summer reading program and an interactive, larger-than-life puppet show by the Springville Center of the Arts.
The Cattaraugus Free Library has been undergoing a major transformation over the past several years and is constantly trying to improve and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the community. Library director, Lori Antholzner, states this “generous donation from Walmart will help further our commitment to offering free programs and learning experiences to all age groups within the community.” The library also creates monthly craft bags for children to take home or finish in the library. Weekly programs such as the Crafter's Club, Adult Coloring, Children's Board Games and a Middle School Drawing Club have also resumed. The popular Story Time for preschool children returns on Friday, May 6th.
The library is open Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11 - 4 and Tuesday/Thursday 11 - 6. Computer help is also available at the library and appointments are encouraged. 716.257.9500
